Theoretical and Experimental Study on Cementing Displacement Interface for Highly Deviated Wells

An effective drilling fluid removal is necessary to achieve an efficient cementing in oil and gas industry, i.e., it ideal that all the displaced by cement slurry. The displacement efficiency closely related stability development of displacing interface between slurry fluid. Thus, requires a validated theoretical model describe guide applications, especially for highly deviated wells. current studies suffer from lack experimental validation proposed models. In this study, interfacial eccentric annulus established. study conducted examine effects well inclination, eccentricity properties on verify model. found annulus, applicable wellbore with different inclination angles. results show that: gradually extends (i.e., length increased) increase inclination; effect became worse deviation angle under same injection replacement conditions. Increasing apparent viscosity beneficial improve interface. wells, certain casing can inhibit penetration wide gap low side which conducive maintaining
